Opening hours

Dear railway enthusiasts,

On 26 October, we successfully concluded this year’s museum season with an ‘Open Day’. Thanks to your numerous visits and your valuable support, it was a year full of highlights and unforgettable experiences.

In line with our cultural mission, we would like to emphasise the historical significance of the railway for the town of Lienz. Our activities are aimed at documenting the cultural and historical context and raising awareness of the development and transformation of the southern railway line. We are particularly keen to awaken enthusiasm for history in a younger audience.

For the coming year, we are delighted to be able to present a special exhibition on our diesel locomotive 2043.49, which played a formative role in the Südbahn Heizhaus.

Thank you very much for your interest and support and we look forward to welcoming you again next year!

With best regards,
Your museum team
